From South Yorkshire to the UAE: A Warm Welcome to Abbie Brennan!
We're incredibly excited to announce that the Zyla Accountants team is growing! Please join us in giving a huge, warm welcome to our newest team member, Accountant Abbie Brennan.
To help you get to know Abbie, we sat down for a quick chat about her journey, her passions, and what she’s looking forward to at Zyla.
A Passion for Numbers from the Start
For some, accounting is a discovered passion, but for Abbie, you could say it’s in her blood. Growing up with a Financial Advisor for a dad, she was always around the world of finance. This early exposure sparked an interest that led her to a fantastic career. With nine years of experience under her belt, Abbie has built a wealth of knowledge, starting as a Senior Account Manager for five years before moving to a role as an Accounts Assistant. Now, we’re thrilled she’s brought her talents to Zyla!
Moving to Dubai
When she’s not diving into spreadsheets, Abbie is all about living life to the fullest. A true fitness enthusiast, you can find her at the gym, running, or lifting weights. She moved to Dubai three months ago and fell in love with the vibrant social scene and, of course, the glorious weather!
What surprised her most about her time in the UAE? "Everyone is so focused and driven, but also incredibly supportive," Abbie shared. "There's a real 'work hard, play hard' mentality, in the best way."
As a huge Formula 1 fan, Abbie is already planning her trip to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this year (we’re not jealous at all!)
And if she weren’t an accountant? "I love animals," she says with a smile. "I'd definitely be working with dogs.
Why Zyla?
We asked Abbie what drew her to Zyla, and her answer resonated perfectly with our core values.
"I love that Zyla is so hands-on and personal," she explained. "The communication is brilliant, using tools like Slack means the team and clients are always in touch. You build such a strong, genuine relationship with clients because there are many touchpoints, things can move much quicker and more efficiently."
With a strong background in UK accounts, Abbie is eager to expand her expertise into the UAE landscape. She’s looking forward to mastering Dubai/UAE compliance, legislation, and the new corporate tax system, which she notes is refreshingly less complicated than the UK's.
Making an Impact
Looking ahead, Abbie is keen to support our leadership team, build on her skills, and become a trusted partner for our clients. She's particularly excited to get involved with our Research & Development (R&D) services.
"I really want to help the leadership team, build my confidence, and provide amazing support for our client relationships," she says.
